Define the task
Record what you are asking the tool to do and what a useful result would look like. Identify the person responsible for accepting or rejecting the result.
Check the information
Decide what information is appropriate for the tool, account, and settings. Use public or hypothetical material for practice exercises. Resolve uncertainty before entering client information.
Keep the underlying sources
Retain the material needed to check the output. Separate what the source says from what the tool inferred or added.
Verify every legal authority
Retrieve the authority independently. Check identifying details, quotations, pinpoints, context, jurisdiction, and subsequent treatment.
Test factual statements
Compare names, dates, calculations, and factual propositions against the underlying record. Identify unsupported statements and unresolved gaps.
Review the final work
Assign a human reviewer and record what was checked. Recheck material changes in the final draft and consult applicable professional rules and court requirements.
